Toca Origins Wood Djembe, 10" - Tribal Mask (TODJ-10TM)
Inspired by the look and sound of traditional djembes from centuries past, the new Origins Series delivers what we think is one of the best percussion sounds ever offered by Toca. By going back to the djembe's classic roots, Toca brings the unique djembe sound full circle with a modern hand drum that embraces the acoustic needs of today's diverse percussionists and takes them to the next level. This drum is infused with outstanding sound character and true Toca "percussion-ality" with a lively, old world spirit that comes through with every beat.
The djembe is hand-carved from a single piece of plantation grown mahogany wood, turned on a lathe to maintain a uniform thickness and detailed with a hand-carved tribal mask motif. The interior of the drum bowl features lathed grooves and textured, rough surface pattern that virtually eliminates distracting overtones. Bearing edges are also precision carved completely by hand to Toca's exact specifications.
The genuine goatskin head is stretched tight and securely attached to the drum body by braided nylon roping. The rope tuning system can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the rope's tension.
