We have located five “New Old Stock” Yairi WY1BW Bob Weir model cutaway folk guitars in inventory, from about 2006.
There are some key things to note on these:
- Being nearly 20 years old, all suffer from minor cosmetic issues, and hence are sold as APA. As-is, no warranty. Labeled as WY1BWX, in Epicor as WY1BW.
- When in production, WY1BW models were outfitted with a proprietary, custom-designed electronics system. That is NOT the case with these- all five are outfitted with original System600Ts. The old EQ systems are long since out of circulation and unavailable.
- Yairi dealers only. When they’re gone, they’re gone. No backorders.
The Alvarez Bob Weir Yairi WY1BW guitar is based on the specifications of Bob's original prototype. The WY1BW cutaway folk guitar features figured coral rosewood back and sides, a solid hand scalloped cedar top, ebony fingerboard, natural satin finish, abalone sound hole rosette, and maple/herringbone binding. It plays like a sunshine daydream! In addition, the new WY1BW is enhanced with a distinctive 12th fret "lightning bolt" inlay, gold die-cast tuners, and an Alvarez Direct Coupled rosewood bridge.
